Heidi and Lucy

OK so here is another post filled with pictures of our dogs. If you haven't figured it out by now we are most definitely pet lovers around here.

Lucy is getting along very well here in her new home. She rarely has an accident anymore (and if she does it's usually on rainy days when she HATES to go out in the rain).

She has learned fast to stay near the girl with the snacks....

She goes in her crate while we eat dinner but she knows the moment she gets let out to run to the kitchen and search for scraps on the floor. She doesn't get much because I sweep it all before she is let out.

She LOVES this red bird. It is nearly as big as she is but she will play with it and act like she is trying to kill it. HA!

This was taken after one of her baths and blow dry a few weeks ago. It was after this that I realized she needed a hair cut!

 After (on the left):

She looks like a totally different dog. I groomed her myself because she is too young to go to the groomer just yet.
Her hair is growing back already:

I really like this length on her.

I feel like she looks SO MUCH bigger in pictures than she really is, so here is a picture that shows her true size a little better:

She is sitting next to a regular sized recliner and you can tell she is still pretty small. I promise you...she is ALL HAIR...get her wet and she looks like a rat!

The other day we were playing in Baby A's playroom and Baby A didn't want Lucy in her play house. Lucy kept peeking in and Baby A kept telling her to "go away!" LOL

She loves to chew on things right now. We bought her some Texas Toothpicks (dried out cow tails) and she loved them. At first one toothpick would last her a good week but now they are gone in a few hours. SO we were on the search for something that lasts longer (did you know that rawhide is not digestible for dogs?), The worker at Hollywood Feed suggested a Bully Stick. The tag said 100% beef p!zzle and I had the slightest idea what that was. We got two and man she LOVED them. It was like cr@ck for her.  We looked up what exactly beef p!zzle was and I was MORTIFIED (you'll have to just trust me or look it up yourself...it's not being published on this blog)!!! Not only was it disgusting but she growled at us when we got close to her and then bit Baby A pretty good when she got close. Not sure what exactly happened but we don't put up with any of our dogs biting.  The unused one went straight back to the store and the other one was thrown away! We are trying pig ears and a cow knee cap now and she likes those but still growls and tries to bite. Looks like she is going to have to learn the hard way this is not ok.

When the weather was so nice we got Heidi out of her pen and showed her some love. She may be 100 pounds but she has NEVER shown any type of aggression to us. Lucy better straighten up or she may be trading spots with Heidi (I am kidding...kind of). Not only is she just an angel to us but she is a BREEZE to walk on the leash. Lucy is still learning how to walk on a leash and she is still a puppy so she is HYPER outside.
Heidi is the EXACT opposite.

My kids just adore her and Heidi eats up all the attention.

Being strangled with hugs and she just sits there and takes it.
(we make sure to watch them very closely with our pets because even though they have always been sweet, they are animals and we know they could act out at any time)
Look at that sweet sweet smile!

  1. Aw! We need a dog! I'm so glad your kids get the opportunity to grow up with animals. I think it's so important for them.
