Halloween Costumes

Well I gave in a little and decorated our house for Halloween. Maybe it was because I really aimed to take the kids to a pumpkin patch but time just got away from us. So yes I felt guilty and yes I hoped this made up for it. The boys were very excited about it. I did it while they were at school so it was a surprise for them.

Every year we fight the same battle with Halloween costumes.  Scooter wants to be something scary but I refuse to let him. I will let them dress up and trick or treat but I will not have any of the scary demon and gory stuff. This year we came to an agreement on an Alien costume online. Well again time got away from me and when I went to order it, shipping was going to cost more than the costume to get it here on time. So we headed off to a local Halloween store and found this one above. He loved it, I loved that it wasn't scary just creepy and so we bought it.

Rascal wanted to be Green Lantern even though he really has no clue who it is. I really don't either though. He wasn't set on it so when we couldn't find one at the store, he was happy to find this Batman costume.  He looked adorable in it too.

Baby A was hard to decide for. Since she is small and can't voice her opinion I had to make the decision for her. I had seen lots of outfits on pintrest that I wanted her to wear but none of them were Tim approved. He didn't want her to be a princess or such since she is growing up too fast anyways. He really wanted her to be an animal of some kind. We saw a cute Lamb costume but again it was online and I waited to long and it was sold out. So we looked at the Halloween store for hers too. We found this cat costume and loved it. Especially since she is so crazy about Henry. I of course will have to put a big bow on it some how, but she looks absolutely adorable in it. She loved it so much and would run from us when we tried to get her to take it off. Once it was off she threw a huge fit about not being able to wear it. Oh the drama starts early.

Today the boys could pay $2 and wear their costumes to school. There were rules though and one was they couldn't wear any masks. Well since Scooters costume was basically just a mask we had to throw together something for him to wear to school that was cool.  I picked up some face paint, grabbed the play eye patch from Granny's house and tore apart one of Tim's shirts to create a Pirate costume. I literally made this at 6:00 this morning. I ripped the sleeves, buttons, button holes, collar and logo off the shirt. I made some rips in it, sewed some sloppy stitches in one rip and then sewed a patch over the hole were we cut the logo off. Then I dug into my fabric draw ripped some dark green fabric up so make a sash / belt and cut a big black square to tie around his head.  He really loved the face painted beard. I was pleased but mainly because he was so excited about it.

Then last night I made these witch hat cookies for Scooter's class. They don't have parties but they do have a special snack so I made these for the class to eat today. They were so easy to make and lots of fun. Of course I found the idea off pintrest.
Today is party day for Rascal (who is feeling better today) and I am helping out. So I have a fun busy day ahead of me.
Tonight is our Halloween Family Fun Night and I must decorate for it also. Lots to do so I better get busy. I'll post pictures of our family night later.
