Last week we did a few really fun things with preschool.
I made a "penguin" shape game and even though my penguin looks pitiful. Baby A LOVED playing the game. The way we play it is, if she names the right shape on the fish cards, then she gets to "feed"the penguin that fish. Sounds super simple but she LOVED it.
After reviewing her shapes and playing the game, we talked about what animals like to eat. We talked about cows, dogs, raccoons, horses and lots more.
Then we did a little science experiment. We cut up an apple and went outside to see what would eat an apple.
She was SO excited to do this.
Henry did not eat the apples
Heidi took the apple but spit it right out. Then went back a few seconds later and ate it
We left some in a few spots to see if ants, squirrels, raccoons etc.. would eat them
Baby A ate them too (which is surprising because my kids don't eat a lot of fruit)
Lucy ate the apple too
The next day we went out to check on our spots that we left the apples and 3 apples were gone and two where still there. This excited Baby A and she wanted to set out more things to see if they got eaten.
So we went in and cut up some carrots and celery.
Lucy ate the carrot
Heidi ate the carrot
Henry would not eat the carrots and neither would Baby A (she wants ranch on hers). We left the cut up carrots and celery out to see if whatever had eaten the apples would eat the carrots and celery too.
When we checked on them the next day only one carrot and celery stick was gone. Whatever it is eating the stuff has more of a sweet tooth.
We worked on some more school work after checking on our carrots and celery. I am so proud of how far Baby A has come on tracing her name and coloring in the lines. Let me remind you that she is only 3 years old.
I look on Pintrest all the time for preschool ideas. I find SO many ideas on there, it's great! One thing I see lots of is sensory tubs. Tubs filled with all sorts of things and it's used to help kids learn fine motor skills. I thought these would be a huge hit with Baby A so I tried one. I filled a tub with cotton balls, gave her several types of utensils (tweezers, tongs, spoon, cup etc...) and let her explore and play however she wished.

I expected her to be interested with this at least a good 20 minutes of so. NOPE! I did good to get these pictures, she really cared nothing about it all.
Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
We are studying all about the ocean this week and we made the cutest toilet paper roll octopus. She painted the toilet paper pink (of course) and glued the pom poms on.
She loves any kind of craft that involves painting.

I LOOOOVE your crafts!! The penguin is such a great idea! Aliyah is just like A, she loooves to paint! Crafts are her thing. I love it! How did we get so lucky! A is growing up too fast! She's so smart and doing SUCH a great job! And what a doll!
