10th Anniversary Getaway

Tim and I planned on going somewhere huge for our 10th anniversary but everytime we tried to nail down a place to go, something got in the way. So instead we just decided to go to Nashville for one night, to relax and enjoy some time together.
The kids spent the night Friday night with Tim's parents, so we grilled out steaks at home and enjoyed eating a nice meal without kids fighting, spills to be cleaned up and a toddler screaming to eat everything off our plates even though it's the same stuff on her plate.
We got up early Saturday morning and headed for Nashville. We were running a little ahead of schedule so we stopped by to see my parents' new lake house. It was very tempting to just hang out there the rest of the weekend but I was really excied about having lunch that day with my best friend from high school.
We got to Maggianos in Nashville at 11:30 and met Angelia and her husband there for lunch. It was SUPERB food but the company was even better. I haven't seen Angelia since Baby A was tiny. It was so wonderful to sit and talk and laugh together. I can't believe I didn't get a picture of us but we were too involved in catching up to do so. :)

After lunch Tim and I headed to our favorite antique shops to see if there was anything we just had to have. Unfortunately there was a HUGE festival on the square in Franklin and it was C.R.O.W.D.E.D. We shopped a little bit but then headed out of the madness, nothing relaxing about that.
We checked into the hotel and watched some tv and decided to go to an early dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Good thing we went early because it was prom night and there were TONS of dolled up highschoolers everywhere. We ate dinner and strolled through the mall there. Then headed to see the newly opened Oprymills mall. It too was crowded so we didn't stay long. We headed back to the hotel to watch some tv.
The next day we decided to have breakfast at our favorite, Loveless Cafe, and then head home the long way down Nachez Trace Parkway.

Brerakfast didn't disappoint. I had steak and biscuits and Tim had their waffle. It was the size of my head! Of course I stuffed myself on their biscuits and jelly before my meal even got there :) I can't speak for their lunch and dinner since we have only had breakfast there but it is the best place to eat breakfast, by far!
The ride down Natchez was beautiful. We had the sunroof open and no raido on. The birds chirping and the smell of honeysuckle was overwhelming. I love the smell of honeysuckle!

We made a few side stops to take in the view and sites too.

This is Gordon Historic Home.

It was beautiful around this home. I loved the fence next to the woods and fields.

As we walked around the house, we came up on this snake skin. I promise you it was as long as my leg. That was good enough reason as any to get out of there.

This was probably the most relaxing part of our trip. To be able to just talk and laugh while enjoying such a beautiful day and the breathtaking views of God's creation was wonderful. We even saw 15 turkeys, 2 snakes, a groundhog and a deer. We started to walk on a small trail but about 50 yards into the trail I decided flip flops and narrow steep trails weren't a good combination. I feared running into a snake!
We made it home after lunch time and I was so glad to see my kids. I am so glad to have alone time with Tim but I sure do miss my kids,......spills, fights and all. :)
