Rascal's Friend Party

We are having two parties for the boys this year since Rascal's birthday falls so close to spring break and Scooter's is on Memorial Day this year. Both mean we probably would have had little to no guests if we had them around their actual birthday.
This past Saturday we had Rascal's friend party and it was Scooby Doo themed. I apologize in advance...these were taken with my phone so they aren't the best quality.

the favor bags were filled with Scooby snacks, Scooby fruit snacks, suckers, glow in the dark bracelets, party blowers, and a pinwheel.  

We invited 5 friends that either go to school with Rascal or live down the street. While waiting for all the guests to arrive, the kids played with some homemade slime. Let me tell you.... this stuff was EASY to make and a HUGE hit at the party. It was simple to make:
1 tsp of Borax
1 cup of warm water
4 oz bottle of elmer's glue
1/2 cup of water
food coloring
You  dissolve the borax with the 1 cup warm water and set to the side. Then mix the glue, 1/2 cup water and food coloring together. Once you have done that add the water borax mixture to the glue mixture and I let it sit without stirring for about 10 seconds. Then I stirred it a little and then picked the mass up in my hands and knead it.  It will be VERY hard to contain it all in your hands at first but keep trying. In less than a minute the mixture will turn into a blob and you have your slime. You know you have done it right when you have a non sticky blob. There will be water left in the bowl that you just discard. The more you knead it the better it gets. It says that is lasts forever when stored in a air tight container or ziploc bag.

We will see how long it actually does last. Oh and rascal got some on his clothes and it doesn't come out easily. It did come out but not without A LOT of stain remover and several washes.

Ok so on to the party.... After everyone got there we began our scavenger hunt. The presents were stolen by "Phantom Tim" and we had to follow the clues to find them.
First clue...run to Rascal's room and do 6 jumping jacks then open your next clue (I didn't get pictures for this clue)
Second clue.... go to where you might find fire (fireplace) and eat 6 marshmallows then open your next clue

third clue.... go to where you keep food cold and figure out the word puzzle (they had to unscramble the words ZOIKS)  then open your next clue

fourth clue.... go to the dining room get under the table and take a picture then open your next clue


fifth clue.... go upstairs and sing happy birthday as loud as you can then you get you next clue

sixth and final clue.... go to Henry the cat's home (the garage) grab the phantom spray and call for Phantom Tim. To get the gifts back you must chase him down and spray him with the phantom spray (which was simply silly string with a label I put on the can).

The kids LOVED this! They had so much fun going from clue to clue and of course they loved spraying Tim with 'phantom spray"! Tim was a great sport for helping out and playing the phantom.

After we got the gifts back we headed inside to open them of course.

He got some great gifts that he has not stopped playing with : )

Then after gifts it was time to dig into the cupcakes I made. I was pleasantly surprised my cupcakes turned out the way I wanted them too.

Baby A loved them and also learned to say "cucake"

You should know that although Rascal looks exactly like his daddy, he is just like his momma and hates cake. He just licks the icing off and won't eat the cake......can't blame him!

After cupcakes it was time for the boys to run wild and play! I fully expected the scavenger hunt to last longer than it did so since it didn't they had more "play time". Rascal was certainly ok with that since it ended up being one giant play date. I loved seeing all the friends laugh, smile and play together. It was great!

Now this weekend will be much less high energy but every bit as fun. The whole family will be coming over for some homemade ice cream and I will be making the same kind of cupcakes. We ordered Rascal's gift this weekend ( I am super excited about it) and I hope it comes in the mail in time for his party. I won't say what we got him but I will say I am praying it doesn't result in more broken bones (which btw Scooter got his cast taken off yesterday and is now sporting a splint for 3 weeks, at least he can wash his hands better now)
