~ Scooter is Hoot of the Week this week. This is where the selected child gets a whole week full of fun things for them. Today we were supposed to turn in a poster but have yet to make it, Tuesday he takes his favorite book to school and reads it to the class, Wednesday the whole class writes him letters, Thursday is a special show and tell day, and Friday is special treat day. He has requested that I make a Mario themed treat for his entire class. I think I will make cupcakes that are iced in red with white spots and green with white spots and make them look like mushrooms. I have a few other ideas in mind that I might do too. We shall see.
~ Well after a good long month we finally said good-bye to our celery plant. It looked great last week and then all of a sudden it started looking pitiful until it just died. Not real sure why but it was a super fun experiment. I have a few other experiments that I want to try out too, maybe on the next free day the kids are out of school.
~I am cheating a bit this week and allowing some premade, processed foods in our home. I am too overwhelmed to spend my days in the kitchen right now so goldfish, juice boxes, chips and lunch meat will be part of our meals / snacks this week. I did spend Saturday in the kitchen making cinnamon rolls, bread, soup, ketchup, and pizza rolls.
~ BTW the recipe for homemade ketchup I had was super easy but tasted nothing like ketchup. I think I can tweak it a little and it taste better though. If it works out I will be super excited to have a sugar free (high fructose corn syrup free) ketchup as our base for BBQ sauce and simply for dipping.
~We have been eating like this for about a month now and we feel tons better. I ate fast food Friday and I really didn't think I was going to be able to finish it. It tasted horrible to me. Our taste pallate has changed and things taste saltier, sweeter and just plain "fake" now. I made pizza rolls for lunch on Saturday and to save time I used premade crescent rolls and premade pizza sauce. It was nowhere near as good as the ones I made with those ingredients being homemade. That was the eye opener for me. There really is a huge difference between premade processed food and true homemade "real foods".
~ Not much going on here, so not much to blog about. Tim was out of town all last week so I am trying to regroup from not having him around last week, to help out.

I want to see your Mario cupcakes!! Too bad about the celery plant. Maybe it got fed up with all the weather changes! ha! Even staying indoors most of the time...my sinuses notice the changes! I know what you mean about being overwhelmed in the kitchen! There is ALWAYS something to make. I always dread making bread, but after I get it started, it's not such a big deal. Although it doesn't take that much time, you do have to psych yourself up for it.
