I do make sure we have plenty of pumpkins, fall smelling candles, and other fall decor around the house. I love changing out my mantle for each season/ holiday and I love having other things sitting around the house for the season/ holiday too.
I waited as long as I could and decided the first of September was finally ok to put my fall decor out. Baby a loved helping me set it all out and even helped me make a burlap bow.
I was fine with just the fall wreaths and pumpkins but as always the boys asked if I would put out more halloween stuff.
So one day I was wasting time in the dollar store and found some black crows, paper bats and mice, styrafoam gourds and rubber spiders. I decided that was a tad more "scary" but not too gory. The kids were so excited about the decorations.
Here's what I did with them:
I folded the paper bats wings up some and taped them to the wall as if they were flying across our kitchen. Then I printed off the word BOO and framed it for my floating kitchen shelves. I hung a spider from the top of the frame with fishing line too. Some of the guards sat perfectly in front of my antique green jars and added a little fall color to the corner.
In the living room I hung my wreath on my mirror and added other fall like decor to the mantle. The dried wheat in the urn is one of my favorite fall decorations. I also set some black crows on the mantle and a paper rat on the wall up by the mantle.
The rats were just placed sporadically around the house.
Some on the stairs, some on the baseboards and some up on top of the door ways.
Our entry way table is pretty simple but yet very fall like with some spiders, a crow and wooden pumpkins
Also while I was at the dollar tree, I found candy corn and candy pumpkins that were safe for Rascal to eat. It's been years since he's had these because most are made in a facility with nuts, making them unsafe for him. He was SO excited when I got home and showed him his special treat.
Before too long I will be putting up my Christmas decorations. I know I am unlike 99% of Americans and put my decorations up very early. I just love it so much and a few weeks each year is simply not enough time for me to enjoy it.
