Teeth

Here in the Rowland house we have had A LOT of tooth drama.
Scooter, bless his heart, has my teeth and deals with a lot of cavities and even abscesses. He had to have one tooth pulled due to an abscess and a spacer put in until his new tooth grew back in. That was a good 2 or 3 years ago and then a few weeks ago he lost the same molar on the other side. That means his new tooth should be coming in soon and that spacer can be removed. YAY!

Rascal on the other hand has great teeth. He has never had a cavity and has always had great news from the dentist at each visit. However he is a rough little boy and has knocked his teeth out a few times. The first time was when he was first learning to walk but that tooth managed to re-root and stay put.  Then when he was 2 1/2 he had a loose tooth on the bottom and when we went to the dentist to have it checked out we found out, he had caused some trauma to it when he fell as a toddler. The dentist pulled that tooth (pain med free) right then. I remember so clearly looking at him with a gap in his teeth and thinking it looked so strange. After all he was only 2 1/2. Then at the age of 4, he fell while running through our house and knocked the top tooth out. He then had a gap on top and bottom for the LONGEST time. I actually got used to the gap. So when his new teeth grew in and filled both the gaps, I missed his gaped smile. Well it's back and not because of any trauma. His other top tooth fell out the day after Scooter lost his molar. I love that gap in his smile and I know it will be very short lived this time.

With all the tooth drama in our house, it's a good thing we don't do the tooth fairy!
