A Day In The Life (8-14-2013)

Well it's been a while since I have posted a day in the life of us post so I documented our day last Wednesday. It is really quite interesting to see how my days have changed. I no longer have diapers to change, bottles to make, constantly running after a baby, and I don't have to do it all by myself now. Baby A is potty trained and so much more independent, Tim doesn't travel anymore and is home from work by 4:30 and life just seems to be a calmer breeze right now. Oh I guess that may be stretching it........ I have replaced "baby years" with algebra homework, 3 year old melt downs, preteen attitudes, fights over video games and a 7 year old that LOVES to just pester any close being (including the dog). Not so easy but definitely different.

So here goes... my days start at 5:30 every morning (with the exception of Saturdays):
* 5:30- The alarm goes off and Tim and I both get up together. Tim gets ready for work while I take Lucy out to potty (That's when I notice how fall like the weather is that day), iron his clothes (but this isn't a daily thing anymore since he can wear jeans and a polo to work), make our coffee and then fix his lunch. Once his lunch is all packed up, I make our breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs each with 3 slices of turkey bacon and a glass of milk. Then we enjoy breakfast together EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! just the two of us (can you tell how much I love this?!?!).
*6:30- Tim is about to leave for work and we hear Baby A wake up. While Tim gets her out of bed, I make her milk cup. Then Baby A and I say goodbye to Tim at the front door.
*6:35- I make Baby A her breakfast (a frozen sausage and biscuit) and start her Curious George dvd. (Can I just say what a life saver Curious George episodes are!!!!)
* 6:40- I head upstairs to wake up the boys and then get their breakfast ready for them (the third time I have made breakfast in one day) Scooter ate a frozen sausage and biscuit and Rascal had frozen french toast sticks.
*6:55- While the boys eat their breakfast I go get ready for the day. I shower at nights so I can be ready in less than 30 minutes in the morning.
*7:05- I check on the boys to make sure they are staying on track and getting ready. Most days I am Drill Sergeant Mom but this morning wasn't that way. Things seemed to go very smoothly.  Scooter is almost completely ready and Rascal is working at a slower pace (this is very typical).
*7:15- I am completely ready and I start getting Baby A dressed and ready to go. Scooter is ready to walk out the door so he gets time on his ds before school. Rascal is still working at a slower pace. I try to hurry him up but there is no way to do that.. he just isn't a morning person. I get his hair fixed for him and he is then off to pack up his bag.
*7:25- Every body is ready to go and Rascal sits down for less than 5 minutes and then it's time to load up the van.
*7:30- We are all loaded up in the van and backing out the drive. If I can leave our house right at 7:30 then the boys aren't so early that they have to wait in the gym (they hate this) and they aren't late to class either. Basically it's the best time to leave so that they can get to school and walk into their class as the bell rings. I should get supermom points for figuring that time frame out!
*7:45- We leave the school after dropping off the boys and  head to fill the van up with gas. On the way back home Baby A and I enjoy the upper 60's temperatures and roll the windows down and open the sunroof.
*8:10- We are back home and have decided to push back housework and soak up the glorious weather. We meet up with Tammy and head out for a walk.
*9:05- We finish our walk and head in to get ready for preschool work. I take Lucy potty and give my mom a phone call.
*9:15- It's time to start preschool. Baby A gets to paint with an apple stamp, practice her cutting skills by cutting up straws to make a necklace, review her colors and counts objects up to three. We also make a brown bag bear puppet and she pretends the bear is speaking while I read her a book.
*10:45- Preschool work is done (a little longer today since there was paint and making a necklace involved) and I start making her lunch. She wants salami, blueberry yogurt, some chips and a chocolate milk for her lunch. I sit her down in the living room to watch Cinderella and eat her lunch. This is a reward since she did so FANTASTIC at her school work that day. While she is eating her lunch and watching Cinderella I make my salad and take Lucy potty.
*11:30- Baby A is done with her lunch and asking to go to sleep. She is always ready for her nap at 11:30 every day. We don't stick to a nap schedule but if we are at home this is when she typically goes down for her nap.
*11:35- I take Lucy potty and then start a load of laundry. Then I get to sit down and eat my salad.
*11:45- 1:15- I sit down to read a few blogs, search for preschool ideas on Pintrest, write a blog post to schedule for another day.
* 1:15- Baby A is awake and ready to finish her Cinderella movie with a snack. This is the time of the day when I get very sleepy so to keep me from getting too sleepy I love to snack on sunflower seeds.
*2:10- We head to go pick up the boys. School lets out at 2:35 but car line starts lining up earlier than that.
*2:20- We are at school in car line and while Baby A chills in her carseat with her baby doll, I read my bible.
*2:40- School is out and car line is starting to move. We wait our turn to pick up Scooter and Rascal. The car ride home is always chaotic. EVERYONE is trying to talk at once and tell me about their day (even Baby A who I have been with all day). It gets a little crazy but by the time we get home everyone has said what they wanted to say to me.
*2:55- It's time to go through back packs, fix the boys a snack and then I start a little bit of housework, while the boys play. It's just the first full week of school so homework hasn't started being assigned yet (PRAISE THE LORD!).
*4:00- Tim calls and is on his way home.  I start cooking dinner. It's Wednesday so that means we have to hurry so we have time to get to church.
*4:30- Tim is home and I am trying to finish up dinner so we can eat, clean the kitchen and get ready to leave for church.
*5:30- Tim has a meeting at church so we leave early.
*6:00- 8:30: Church
*9:00- Home and time to get the kids ready for bed.
9:30- Kids are in bed. Tim and I read for a little bit and then we turn in for the night.

  1. Just reading about your day makes me tired! You are amazing! I'm so glad Justin doesn't need anything ironed and isn't hungry in the mornings cause I would be a zombie all day to get up that early. It's just now 9:15 and I'm finally feeling like I can get started with my day. haha You make me look bad ;)
