A Trip To The Orchard

Last week the weather was unseasonably nice and so we took advantage of it.
We woke up Wednesday morning and headed to a nearby orchard.

We didn't really have any certain kind of fruit in mind but just went more for the experience and fun.

Once we got there they suggested nectarines and gave us our baskets and directions to the nectarine field.

I wasn't expecting the grass to be so high. Baby A and I were in pants but I felt bad for my boys who wore shorts. They were itchy the entire time. I feared snakes would be lingering but we never saw any.. thank goodness!!

We have picked strawberries many times before but this was our first time to pick nectarines. I kinda expected them to get bored and I would have to finish (that's how it typically went with picking strawberries)  but they really surprised me. All three listened to the tips the employees gave us and found perfect nectarines.

You can tell this sweet girl was LOVING every minute of it.

I had a hard time keeping my boys from climbing the trees to pick ones up high.

We had SO MANY nectarines. More than we could ever eat but I couldn't bear to stop the kids when they were having so much fun. We have given lots of nectarines to people and I plan to bake a cobbler with some too.

It was such a fun outing for us and we are already making our plans to go back in the fall and pick apples.

  1. Such a fun day!! I love making memories like that with my kids! I absolutely love the last picture! The boys being so cute and cool in their poses and then Baby A's "you're not going to make me smile" face. Which is still so cute. It shows her little sassy/silly personality, too. Our girls are so much alike!
