Memorial Day and Scooter's 10th Birthday 2013

Memorial Day always falls around Scooter's birthday and this year he made sure to let us know he wanted to celebrate at the lake! So that is just what we did and man was is a b last!! It was the coolest Memorial day we have had since I can remember which meant the water in the lake was FREEZING!
I took LOTS of pictures so I am going to break them into two posts
.
We got to the lake house Friday night around dinner time. We grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs and sat around a bonfire (yes it was cool enough to have a fire).  Scooter talked his Papa and Tim into taking him fishing at night. He loves to fish and has been just waiting to fish at the lake. They were down fishing until close to 11:30 that night. We all crashed late and woke up ready for a day on the lake.

Tim woke up before everyone else and snuck out to do some early morning fishing. He got this sunrise picture with his phone (no editing has been done to this picture, so gorgeous!)

Once the kids all woke up (which was still bright and early even though they went to bed late) I took the boys down to fish with Papa and Tim and us girls made a run to Walmart to get some food.
Before I even got off the dock Scooter pulled this fish in. Then he took it off the hook and threw back in the water all by himself! I have a video of him doing it that I'll try post soon.

Once we made it back from Walmart and had lunch we headed out for an afternoon on the lake. Baby A LOVES the water and this year she has the new puddle jumper life vest. Those are THE BEST thing ever for small kids. She had to get the hang of hold herself up still but she caught on pretty quickly.

My mom bought this float for the adults to lounge in the water with. However the water was so cold and we found a better use for it! It was perfect for letting Baby A relax in the water.

One thing you should know is that every single time Baby A steps foot on the boat she asks for a snack. It doesn't matter if we just ate, she just like to snack on the boat.  She had a nice little set up here:

Sweet Scooter warming up on the back of the boat in the sun

He is growing up so fast.  I love this picture of him!

After some time in the water and snacks Baby A crashed for a nap on the boat. She sleeps SO WELL on the boat (she took close to a 2 hour nap. How sweet is this???

The boys were begging one of us to get in the water but it was just so cold so they sat at the front of the boat and watched the others out on the water. I love this picture of the two of them talking.

My kids very favorite thing about the lake are the jet skis. They could ride them all day long and never grow tired of it.

Baby A is even a fan. In fact she was constantly telling her Papa to go FAST!!

Me, Baby A, Rascal, Scooter and Papa (my dad)

After a long afternoon on the lake we headed in to have a birthday dinner for Scooter.  The weather was so nice we had it all on the brand new deck my dad spent building this past winter/ spring. It was so much fun!

While we got dinner together the kids had fun driving around in the power wheel truck. This picture makes me think of the future... I can totally see him driving with his baby sister in the passenger seat.

Tim and my dad caught enough fish that morning for us to have a fish fry that night.

Here we are about to dig in. Look at that feast... it was SO yummy!!

For Scooter's dessert we had strawberry shortcake...oh my YUMMY!!

And of course then he opened his gifts. Uncle Matt, Aunt Ashlee and Levi weren't able to make it and we missed them terribly.  Here is Scooter opening their gift:

He was SO excited to get an iTunes gift card. He is always wanting me to buy certain apps, iTunes songs or iPhone game upgrades and I won't do it. Now he can do all that and some more.
YAY! Thanks Matt, Ashlee and Levi!!

Nanny and Papa got him a Duck Dynasty bracelet (the kid is OBSESSED with that show).

They also got him a scooter. Poor guy has had to borrow his brothers and if their friends came down with theirs he was always left without one. They LOVE to race down our driveway on them. Thanks Nanny and Papa!! Not only is he pumped about his scooter but now that's one less fight I have to listen to :)

After dinner and the birthday celebration, we headed out for a sunset boat ride! These are my absolute favorite! There is nothing more peaceful and the sunset didn't disappoint at all (this picture wasn't edited either... it was just that beautiful!). Baby A was not very cooperative and said she had to potty so we didn't stay out long.
The kids went to bed earlier that night and we all prepared for the next day on the lake.
