Ok so here is an Advent update. I haven't been taking pictures on every activity so maybe it won't be a crazy picture overload. We've had to make some adjustments to our original schedule too.
Day 6
This night we made Salt Dough Ornaments.
We made these last year and they turned out great. This year I lost my recipe and the new one I got wasn't so great. Oh well it was still fun to make them. They didn't make it to any tree but maybe next year.
Day 7
This night's activity was Zoo Lights. We LOVE Zoo lights.
We rode the tram around to see all the lights through the zoo and then walked through a few of the open exhibits. This year the zoo had a Ferris wheel but we refused to wait in the long line to ride it.
Baby A LOVED the big animals that greeted us as we walked in.
She kept asking to go back and see them.
On the tram ride.
Baby A wouldn't let me take her picture but she loved to "train ride".
Sweet Rascal on the tram
Day 8
Day eight's activity was to open one gift. The boys had a pancake breakfast at church that morning and a birthday party that night so we let them open the gift before we left that morning.
I made all the kids Christmas pillow cases using the fabric above.
(I bet you can tell which fabric is for what kid without me telling you)
Rascal asked he he got to pick which gift to open ..... HA no such luck sweetheart!
Scooter couldn't believe I made the pillow cases.
He was shocked I had time to make them without any of them knowing.
Rascal LOVED the horses on his
Baby A loved the puppies on hers.
She still points them all out to us.
Look at her look of admiration :)
SO worth staying up late one night to make them.
On their pillows and ready for when they go to bed
Day 9
Day nine's activity was the Children's play at church.
All the kids did an OUTSTANDING job.
Both Rascal and Scooter had a solo, Scooter had a main part and Rascal had to recite scripture.
Both boys nailed their solos, Scooter had all his lines memorized and Rascal blew everyone away with how he memorized and recited the scripture.
I'll just say Rascal is SO MUCH like his daddy.
He is quiet and shy (around people that aren't family) but when he is up on the stage he really shines.
Here's the entire cast of the play "In a Galilee Far Far Away"
(it was space themed if you couldn't tell)
Day 10
We were supposed to make pizzas this night but since the boys were having pizza the next night and again on Thursday night we skipped this activity.
Day 11
Tim and I had a dinner to go to so the kids got to go over to their Aunt Peggy and Uncle Michael's house and have all sorts of fun.
Day 12
We went to church that night and then listened to Christmas music on the way home.
Day 13
We had planned on doing sugar cone trees but decided to have some friends over for dinner and haircuts that night.
Day 14
This night was all planned out to go to see Santa at Christmas City. Then I picked the kids up from school and Rascal had a 103 temp. So all plans were canceled and we had to get him to the doctor the next day.
Day 15
Our activity for this night was to shop for siblings.
I had to get Scooter one more stocking stuffer so Friday I went and decided to let Baby A go ahead and get her gifts for her brothers.
We headed to Barnes and Noble and I thought I'd never get her away from the train table.
We came home and she helped wrap them and put them under the tree.
She was so proud of her gifts
Saturday I took the boys (in two different trips) to pick out their gifts. Rascal wanted to buy EVERY thing he saw that he thought they would like. He even said at one point " But I REALLY want him to have this and what if he doesn't get it?" Oh my gracious my heart was in a huge puddle on the floor. We walked up and down every aisle making sure that what he picked out was the right gift.
Scooter on the other hand knew EXACTLY what he wanted to get and we walked in got the gifts and were back home within 30 minutes.
Both boys had a blast wrapping the gifts, then showing them to the sibling and then picking out the perfect spot under the tree for the gifts.
This will be on our advent calendar from now on!
Day 16
Our activity for this night was a musical at church and then a fellowship following.
