We headed to the lake this past weekend to celebrate my brother's birthday.
My kids were so excited this time. Last time they had no clue what going to the lake really meant, this time they knew exactly what it meant and they couldn't wait!!
We got there Friday night and had a yummy birthday dinner with ice cream cake. Then after gifts we stayed up late and watched a kids movie.
As always my kids were up at the first sign of sunlight the next morning and they were ready to be out on the lake. We ate breakfast and got everyone ready and headed out.
Someone was SLEEPY and needed to a nap ASAP!
As soon as Baby A saw the jet skis she knew what they were and yelled " I ride, I ride". So Tim took her out for a little bit. Anytime she passed by the boat you could see her little hand up waving to us. So precious!!!
Rascal and Scooter wasted no time and they were in the water swimming. It was a bit chilly though. A storm was blowing in so the lack of sunshine and wind made it chilly.
Scooter is getting so great at swimming. Without having a pool ourselves or having one that we can go to regularly, we haven't really had the chance to teach them to swim and get continual practice. He is doing awesome this summer though.
Rascal was on the jet ski in heartbeat this time. You can't go fast enough for this little boy. He kept telling my dad to go faster and I kept yelling from the boat for them to slow down. I love to see them having so much fun on the water though.
Baby A wanted in the water and I wasn't getting in since it was chilly. I also was keeping an eye on the storm blowing in. Tim got in with her and she was kicking her feet before they even got in the water. She will lay on her back and say "swimmy swimmy swimmy". She can't swim without us holding her, she doesn't know how (and isn't heavy enough) to keep herself upright while wearing her life vest.
Look at that smile though! She loved it all!!
Ashlee was smart and brought Levi's little splash pool. We filled it with water and let them play in it on the boat.
Scooter was next riding on the Jet ski. He is a speed demon too. You can't go fast enough for him and he LOVES jumping the waves. Last time when I rode him, he kept telling me to jump the waves but I am too cautious with them on there with me and just can't do it. Needless to say they prefer to ride with my dad or Tim.
Levi loved watching the boats (although we were the only ones out there due to the weather).
He had lots of entertainment this weekend with my kids being around.
We only had about 30 minutes on the boat and then the rain hit. It wasn't a little summer rain shower either so we packed up and headed in. It rained the rest of the day but we found it very relaxing to sit on the screened in porch and watch it rain.
The guys all went down to fish for a little bit and later my mom and I took the kids down to fish off the marina. Scooter has become quite the fisherman and caught several fish while we were down there, Baby A even touched them.......there is no way, I'd do that!
Rascal hasn't acquired the patience to fish yet. He wants to put his line in the water and have a bite immediately otherwise he quits.
We decided to leave around 3:00 and head home, stopping for an early dinner at Casey Jones. I just knew the kids would think it was great. Turns out, they were so tired they didn't eat much and the food was horrible. So we ate a little and left but not before walking around their store first.
The kids spotted some fun glasses and tried on every single style.
We also found some fun interesting hats and tried those on for a good laugh and then we headed on home.
We hated that it rained out most of our lake fun, but it was still fun to be with family. We will have to make another trip or two again before it gets cool. The kids want to ride the jet skis and swim in the lake.
Great shots! Bummer about the rain though! I was hoping all that rain wasn't going to hurt your plans. At least you all got to get out there for a little while. Oh and Casey Jones was where we ate and after drinking most of my lrg chocolate milk there was a piece of cheese stuck on the inside at the bottom of my glass. Totally grossed me out and never have liked that place since. And the food was horrible then too.
