~ I am so over the heat! Every year I hate summer a little bit more and love winter a whole lot more. I am ready for fall! I want nice crisp breezes with my windows open, leaves falling, yummy fall candles smelling my house up wonderfully, and I am ready to have my house covered in pumpkin decorations. In fact I might even put off decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving just to enjoy the pumpkin/ fall decorations a little longer. That's a HUGE maybe though!
~ I have really enjoyed baking lately but again with this heat I am not loving how my oven heats up my kitchen. Another reason to bring on the fall! The look on my kids faces when they walk into the kitchen to find freshly baked cookies or bread waiting for them, well those are looks I never want to forget. We haven't bought prepackaged desserts (exception: popsicles) in a very long time. I think it's official..... my kids are spoiled by homemade cookies and desserts!
~ On a related note..... I must stay out of said desserts and try to lose some weight. Tim and I did really well at the beginning of the year eating real food and cutting out all the processed junk! Then summer hit and I have not had an ounce of time to cook real food. It takes time, planning and motivation to start a dinner 1-2 hours early so you can make everything from scratch. However Tim came home from a business trip last week and asked me if we could start the 100 days of real food eating again. He's a believer!!! It's not a diet, it's simply cutting out all processed food and eating real food! We felt better than we ever have and the added bonus was we lost weight too! Once the boys are back in school I plan to start exercising again. I don't care what anyone says, exercising with 3 kids (any age) under foot is impossible! Anyways, my goal is to lose the 10 pounds I have gained. It isn't huge but I am going to do it!
~ I am hoping to start a few sewing projects for Baby A. Her poor pj's are too small so what better time to start making her some adorable night gowns. I found a great tutorial online and once I find the time (yeah right) I plan to start on them. I am so excited about it. I love love love sewing!
~ Baby A turns 2 in less than 1 week! I am not sure how that is possible but I gotta face it, she's a toddler now and boy does she run the place! We are having a pink tutu party with some pearls and Minnie mouse thrown in there too. If you ask her what she will have at her party her first reply is CAKE!!!! Then she says PINK!!! and then she says TUTU and NECKY (necklace). I have started (almost finished) the decorations and man are they ever so cute!! I will have lots of pictures after her party. Just know any male coming to the party will be overwhelmed with GIRLY GIRLY GIRLY!!!
~OK this random point is about potty training, feel free to skip past it if you don't care to know about it.
Back in March I told myself I was done buying diapers and from then on I would only put Baby A in big girl underwear. She did awesome and we had peeing down but still had accidents every now and then if we were busy and couldn't get to the bathroom every 10 minutes. (yes every 10 minutes!!) She didn't have pooping down. In fact the thought of doing it scared her to death. I would know she needed to go and sit her on the potty and she would cry the worst cry. So I would get her down and tell myself it's ok for her to just go in her pull-up. But she wouldn't even do that. So after about a month (but seemed like eternity) she finally had pooping on the potty down! She wasn't scared and from then (April) on she has told us she needs to go poop and she goes even in public restrooms. I can say she is definitely potty trained with pooping in the potty. The other is a different story. We have taken a complete turn and we just keep her in pull-ups now. Can she pee on the potty? YES!! Does she want to? YES!!! Do I have time to take her to the potty every 10 minutes? NO!! Not while trying to do fun things with the boys and referee fights. So we will try it again once the boys get in school. I think limiting her drinks will help a lot but while we are out and about in this 100 degree weather, I just don't want to limit her amount of liquids. So maybe by the fall we will have it down but the bottom line is.... she is still so young and I feel very accomplished having what most people think is the hardest part, done with. We will take that accomplishment and just wait for the rest until the time is right. Oh and potty training a girl is SO DIFFERENT from potty training a boy! Can't say it is harder/ easier but it is DIFFERENT!
~ I saw this on Pintrest this week and loved it. It's so true for my life right now.

Except I must be careful with all my earring, not just hoops since a certain toddler is OBSESSED with jewelry.
I used to hate being cold.... I'm thinking the older I get the more I'm wishing we lived further north. :) Maybe we should just have a 'summer home' up north...that'd work.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at how fast this summer has gone by though. I am SO excited about fall! Cooler weather....getting out of the house!!!
SOOO excited about Baby A's party! What I saw was adorable! Can't wait to see more!
