~ The boys love to climb trees......L.O.V.E. !!! What boy doesn't?!? Scooter has no fear when it comes to climbing a tree. No lie he can climb up a tree so fast and he even gets creative on how to reach the lowest branch if he can't reach it by hand. Currently we have an old chain link gate door leaned on a tree (they drug it out from under the deck) as their ladder to get up one tree. It is nothing for Scooter to climb 20 (or higher) feet up in a tree. I have told him time and time again how dangerous and not to do it but does he listen? Of course not...what fun would that be. So the other day Scooter's friend N rings the doorbell and tells me that Scooter is stuck in a tree. I look out to see Scooter about 6 feet up and indeed stuck. I go down to see how to get him out and notice that his leg is jammed in a "v" of the tree and it hurt when I tried to push it out. So I had N get me a deck chair, Rascal hold my cell phone (just in case we ended up having to make a 911 call) and once I got the chair, N held it so I wouldn't fall out of it....I stood in the chair told Scooter to suck it up and I pulled his leg out. Scooter screamed but once it was out he was fine. It would be the very front tree in our yard where I am sure our neighbors got a good laugh at me in a chair pulling my son out of a tree.
~ Not even a week after the first "stuck in a tree" incident (I told you he doesn't listen) Rascal comes running in the house panicked and yelling Scooter is stuck come quick. This time I wasn't as alarmed thinking it was the same sort of problem. I quickly learned it wasn't. Scooter had climbed up about 15 feet and decided to be a daredevil and hang from the limb. Once he was hanging ( his feet where not even where I could to touch them.. approx. 9 feet up) he realized he couldn't get back over to where he was and was stuck hanging. He was scared I was scared and knew I had no time to climb, his hands were slipping and he was getting more upset by the second. I told him to drop and I would try to buffer his fall. Praying the whole time he did indeed drop and I managed to catch him so he didn't hurt himself. Scary situation, I hugged him checked him out and then told him " I hope you have learned your lesson!" As we walked back inside Rascal told me "Scooter told me to lay down on the ground and he would fall on me" Oh my.... I explained how bad that would have been and I truly hope hey have learned their lesson.
~ Baby A is adding more words to her vocabulary daily it seems. Her newest favorite word is "AMEN" She knows when we pray to be quiet but once we finish praying she yells AMEN as loud as you can. She loves to sing if your happy and you know say AMEN. She throws her head back and yells AMEN every time. Cracks me up. She also loves to find a bible carry it around saying bible the entire time. At least we know she is soaking in the good stuff.
~ Rascal loves to dip his food into sauce. It doesn't matter if it is ketchup, ranch dressing, salsa, cheese dip, hot sauce or gravy... he loves his condiments. Recently when I was cooking dinner I told him we were having gravy. He asked if it was country gravy and I said no. His reply..."Great mom, I like country gravy but I love city gravy more!" :-) Yes he called brown gravy "city gravy"! I laughed but I guess in their little minds it makes perfect sense.
~ Scooter looked at me the other day and as serious as he could be told me this:
"Mom, I want to be farm schooled"
Me: Don't you mean home schooled?
S: No mom, Farm schooled.... I want to learn all about taking care of pigs, cows and learning how a farm works. You know so I can work on a farm one day!
